StarCraft II: A case study of operational rules and foundational rules
A downloadable book
My main idea of developing this project will be exploring the relationship between rules and reasons for the success of StarCraft 2. By doing this I will mainly use case study methodology to apply the knowledge of rules from The Art of Game design to deeply understand the characteristics of rules in high-performance playability and performativity in RTS gameplay and Esport culture.
Abstract
StarCraft II's growth and the esport tournaments that accompany it are currently thriving. This essay will examine the direct benefits of rules to StarCraft II gameplay by delving into two key rules concepts: operational rules and fundamental rules (2008). Investigate the indirect relationship between these specific restrictions and the playability and performance in StarCraft II tournaments. The StarCraft II in-game mechanics and rules provide a low learning curve for beginner players and a proficient dynamic difficulty for players who want to enhance their expertise. Moreover, the threshold of understanding the content in StarCraft II eSport tournaments is relatively low. The spectators' motivation of learning the game has been indirectly increased
this is a short research practice project on StarCraft II Esport culture and tournament.
